Sensory Box: environment-aware projection

Here is a video showing a projection on a bunch of white boxes. I can only guess, but I suppose both the projector and the boxes match a 3D model used to calculate the transformation. The result is amazing.

The installation was presented during the Mobile World Congress by Alcatel-Lucent, and created by french agency SUPERBIEN.

Off that (Rationalists’ Anthem)

Im Rahmen des Geek Pop Festival 2010 haben Mr. Simmonds (Beat), Baba Brinkman (Rap) und Tommy Nagle (Animation) eine Hymne für Rationalisten geschaffen und sie gleich mit einem schick animierten Video versehen.

Ansehen kann man sich das Ergebnis im Geek Pop Blog, oder auch direkt auf YouTube.

Es ist schön zu sehen, dass die wachsende Zahl der Skeptiker nicht nur in endlosen Diskussionen auf YouTube in Erscheinung tritt. Vor einiger Zeit hatte Brian Steegsma bereits ein kleines Intro mit dem Titel »Listen To Reason« für den Non-Prophets-Radio Podcast aus Austin/Texas produziert. Obwohl es sich großer Beliebtheit erfreut, liegt es leider nicht mehr bei YouTube oder sonst irgendwo vor.

Eine Diplomarbeit über »vergessene Berufe, die es so wahrscheinlich nie gegeben hat« steht kurz vor der Veröffentlichung.

“Sir Henry” Holst hat seine Diplomarbeit im Studiengang Illustration der Hochschule für angewandte Wissenschaften (HAW) in Hamburg dem Wortspiel gewidmet. Daraus ist ein Buch mit immerhin 42 farbig illustrierten Seiten entstanden — und obwohl ich noch kein Exemplar in den Händen halte weiß ich jetzt schon, dass es mich umhauen wird. Wer auch ein Exemplar möchte sollte den Künstler einfach anschreiben.

Clemento’s »Very Special Lens«

This guy Clemento has “played around” with his new macro lens, a MP-e 65mm 1-5x. And the resulting video is nothing short of stunning.

The lens is mounted to the Canon EOS 5D Mark II. So he is using his digital SLR photo camera to create HD video. From what I have heard this is becoming increasingly poopular, and now I can see why.
